Iran short to vie in Polish filmfest

Iran short ‘AniMal’ has been selected to vie at the 22nd edition of the Zoom-Zblizenia International Film Festival in Poland.

Co-directed by Bahram and Bahman Ark, the short flick has been shortlisted as one of the 52 titles qualified to attend the short fiction competition section of the festival.

The 15-minute 'AniMal' tells the story of a man who wants to cross over the border illegally. To gain what he wishes for, he hunts a ram and decides to escape disguised as the animal.

Produced by Iranian National School of Cinema, the film has so far gained several awards and nominations from prestigious international festivals, including the second prize of the 2017 Cinéfondation Festival de Cannes.

It has also won a prestigious award from the 40th edition of the Denver Film Festival in the US.

The Zoom-Zblizenia International Film Festival is one of the largest and most important independent cinema festivals in Poland. It aims to present the high artistic value as well as promotion of independent film art.

The latest edition of the film event is slated for February 18-24, 2019.
